Double your blog's traffic

According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt the average blog has one regular reader. That person is the blogger, of course.

If you're a blogger, that probably isn't ground-breaking news to you. But when I read this I was overwhelmed with pride, because apparently tapb has twice as many readers as the average blog. First there's me - that's one. Then there's my wife - and that's two (woohoo!)

Crossing guard dogs

Today the Mrs. and I were discussing why noone has tried training dogs to be crossing guards. If seeing eye dogs can help people across busy streets, it doesn't seem like that much of a stretch. She thinks it's because they are to small and would be hard to see. I think it's because no one would respect them.

If the Pope had an 800 number...

My wife and I were discussing an important matter this evening. Imagine you are the Pope's PR person and you're tasked with picking a memorable toll free hotline number. What would it be? 1-800-THE-POPE ? 1-800-POPE-GUY ?

A few thoughts on the Simpsons movie

  1. It felt shorter than it was. I'm not sure if this was because of good writing or because the industry standard seems to be getting longer.
  2. One of the best gags occurs at the very beginning of the movie. Make sure you get there on time.
  3. The animation had a lot of depth and the colors were very bright. In this sense, seeing what amounted to an extended length Sunday night episode on the big screen added a lot to the experience.
  4. Who would have guessed that Lisa was a horcrux?

Don't believe the (negative) hype

For anyone who catches a report on Geocaching that resembles the two the San Antonio news did here: http://www.austinexplorer.com/Geocaching/SatTV/ don't add geocachers to your neighborhood crime watch list just yet. Maybe it's some left over fascination with the west as a place of outlaws and buried treasures, but the way they spin this report is ridiculous and really shows their lack of knowledge on the subject.
